Marketing a junk removal business is about being the clearance firm people trust to turn up, charge what was quoted and dispose of waste legally. Adverts bring the calls; the rest of your marketing decides whether callers book and come back.
Position: licensed, priced, punctual
The trade has a problem with unlicensed operators and fly-tipping. Make your position the opposite:
- Registered waste carrier, with the number shown
- Waste transfer notes provided
- A price before you arrive
- A time slot you keep
Say where waste goes and how much is recycled, if you track it.
Choose your customers
- Households: one-off clearances, garden waste, garages
- Landlords and agents: end of tenancy, repeat work
- Trades: builders and landscapers with regular waste
- Businesses: office and shop clearances
- Probate and estate clearances: sensitive, higher value
Repeat customers such as agents and builders give a base of work under the one-off jobs.
Name your services in UK terms
Use "rubbish removal", "house clearance" and "waste clearance" on your site and in adverts. "Junk removal" is understood, but fewer people search it here.
Price so people can decide
Publish prices by load: minimum charge, quarter load, half load, full load. List extra charges for items like mattresses or fridges. Clear prices cut time-wasting calls.
Build these in your first year
Month 1: Google Business Profile, a simple website with a page per service, WhatsApp photo quotes, van signwriting.
Months 2 to 3: Google Search ads for your best job types. Review requests after every job.
Months 4 to 6: Contact letting agents, estate agents and builders. Offer agents a simple fixed-price list.
Months 7 to 12: More service and area pages, Facebook adverts in spring, and a referral reward for customers and partners.
Use every job as marketing
- Photograph the space before and after
- Post it with the town named
- Leave a card
- Ask for a review by text that evening
Handle sensitive work with care
For bereavement and hoarding clearances, write a separate page in a calm tone. Explain how you sort, what you can donate and that you work discreetly.
Measure
Each month, record enquiries by source, jobs booked, average job value and repeat customers. Put more into the sources that bring higher-value and repeat work.
Common questions
How do I stand out from cheaper operators? Show your licence, give a price in writing and collect reviews. Cheap unlicensed operators cannot match those.
Is paid advertising needed? It is the quickest way to get calls. Partnerships and reviews lower your reliance on it over time.
