Local Services Ads place a pest control business above the normal Google ads, with a review score, a Google badge and a call button. You pay when a customer calls or messages through the listing. For a trade built on urgent calls, it is a good fit.
Is pest control eligible?
Pest control is on Google's UK list. Availability can vary by area, so check your postcode on Google's sign-up page.
What you need to qualify
- Business details and service areas
- Verification of your business registration
- Proof of public liability insurance
- Any qualifications Google asks for in your category
Approval can take a few weeks. Start before the busy season.
How leads are charged
You pay per lead, not per click. Google sets the price by area and job type, and shows it in your account. We have not found a reliable published UK figure for pest control leads, so use the price Google quotes you. You set a weekly budget and can pause at any time.
Choose job types with care
Tick only the pests and services you offer: rodents, wasps, bed bugs, ants, birds and so on. If you do not treat bed bugs, untick it, or you will pay for calls you turn away.
How to rank higher
Ranking is not an auction on keywords. It depends on:
- Distance from the customer
- Review score and number of reviews
- How often you answer and how fast
- Opening hours
- Budget left for the week
Ask every customer for a review using the LSA review link. Answer every call. Keep hours accurate.
Manage leads in the dashboard
Mark each lead as booked, and archive the ones that were not real enquiries. Google reviews leads for spam and wrong-service calls and credits invalid ones. Listening to the recorded calls also shows you how your phone answering sounds to a customer.
Use it with Google Ads
LSAs bring phone calls for common jobs. Google Search ads let you choose exact searches, such as "commercial pest control contract" or "bed bug heat treatment", and send people to a page that sells that service. Run both and compare cost per booked job.
Seasonal tips
- Raise the weekly budget before wasp season.
- Check your hours in summer. Evening calls are common.
- In autumn, make sure rodent job types are ticked.
Common questions
Do I need a website? No.
Can I choose which towns I show in? Yes. Set service areas by town or postcode.
Why did my leads stop? The weekly budget may be spent, or verification may need renewing.
