The Best Way to Advertise a Plumbing Business

The best way to advertise a plumbing business depends on the job: emergency, repair or installation. Compare the options and what each costs.

The best way to advertise a plumbing business depends on the job you want. Emergency work is won on Google in the first minute. Installations are won over days, with reviews, photos and a quote. Match the advert to the job and you stop paying for the wrong kind of enquiry.

For emergency callouts: be at the top of Google

Someone with a burst pipe searches, calls the first credible result and stops looking. Three places matter:

  • Local Services Ads, at the very top, pay per lead
  • Google Search ads, pay per click
  • The map results, driven by your Google Business Profile and reviews

Your advert here is short: service, area, a phone number and proof that you turn up.

For repairs and servicing: search ads plus reviews

Boiler servicing and repairs are less urgent, so people compare. Search ads bring them to you, and your review score and a clear price decide whether they call. If you offer a fixed price for a boiler service, say it.

For installations: show the work

Bathrooms and boiler installs are large, planned purchases. Advertising that works:

  • Search ads for "new boiler installation" and "bathroom fitter" in your area
  • A landing page with photos, reviews and a quote form
  • Facebook and Instagram ads showing finished bathrooms to homeowners nearby
  • Retargeting, so people who visited see your work again while they decide

For commercial contracts: go direct

Letting agents, facilities managers and builders rarely respond to adverts. A short email, a call and a capability sheet with your insurance and accreditations do more than any ad.

What about vans, leaflets and local papers?

A signwritten van is worth having because it works every day at no extra cost. Leaflets can work in a tight area after you finish a job on the street. Local newspaper adverts are hard to measure, so put a tracking number on anything you print.

What about directories?

Checkatrade and similar sites can bring steady work. You pay a membership or per lead, and enquiries are often shared. They suit you if you reply quickly and have strong reviews on the platform.

How to choose

Ask three questions:

  1. Which job do I want more of?
  2. Is the customer searching now, or do I need to reach them first?
  3. Can I measure the result?

If the customer is searching now, use Google. If you need to reach them first, use Meta and local relationships. If you cannot measure it, test it small.

Common questions

What is the cheapest way to advertise? Your Google Business Profile and a habit of asking for reviews. Both are free.

Do I need a website to advertise? For Google Search ads, yes. For Local Services Ads and a Business Profile, no.
