Good pest control advertising answers one question fast: can you get rid of this, and how soon? These ten ideas are ordered roughly from quickest result to slowest.
1. One search ad group per pest
Do not run one advert for "pest control". Build separate ad groups for rats, mice, wasps, bed bugs and the rest. The headline names the pest and the town. The click lands on the page for that pest.
2. Local Services Ads
Pest control is on Google's UK list. You pay per lead and appear above normal ads with a Google badge. Tick only the pests you treat.
3. Call-only ads on mobile
For emergencies, an ad that dials when tapped removes a step. Run them only during the hours you answer.
4. Ad copy that removes the worry
Use the points that make someone call: same-day or next-day visits if you can keep to them, a fixed price for a wasp nest, unmarked vans, a guarantee period. Only promise what you deliver.
5. Seasonal switches
Wasps in summer. Rodents moving indoors in autumn and winter. Ants and flies in warm months. Bed bugs all year. Move budget between ad groups as the season changes, and write the ad for the pest people are seeing now.
6. A commercial campaign
Separate keywords for "commercial pest control", "pest control contract" and "restaurant pest control". Send clicks to a commercial page with a contract enquiry form.
7. Google Business Profile posts
Free. Post a short note when a pest comes into season, with a photo and a call button.
8. Local Facebook groups and Nextdoor
When someone asks who can deal with wasps, be the name others recommend. Ask happy customers to tag you. Paid Facebook ads can work for wasp season in a tight area.
9. Leaflets after a job
Pests spread along a street. After treating one house, drop cards to the neighbours: "We have just treated a property nearby." Add a tracking number.
10. Partnerships
Letting agents, housing providers, cleaners, builders and roofers all find pests before you do. Offer a simple referral arrangement.
What to leave out
- Scare photos that put people off your page
- Broad "pest control" keywords with no negatives
- National targeting when you cover three towns
Negative keywords to add
DIY, how to, poison buy, traps buy, spray, Amazon, B&Q, jobs, course, training, council, free. Council searches are common, because some councils offer pest services.
Common questions
Which idea works fastest? Pest-specific search ads and Local Services Ads.
Do pictures of pests help ads? On search ads you have little image space. On your page, show the technician and the result, not a close-up of a rat.
